Asamannoor
Grama Panchayat

In the Asamannoor Grama Panchayat of Ernakulam district, numerous Anganwadis operate in an exemplary manner, serving as focal points for child welfare and women's development activities. Spread across the panchayat's various wards, these centers play a crucial role in ensuring early childhood education, nutritional support, immunizations, and health check-ups. They also consistently provide health and nutrition awareness classes, along with related support services, for pregnant women and nursing mothers. Under the leadership of local self-government bodies and elected representatives, the panchayat is actively implementing initiatives to upgrade these facilities into "Smart Anganwadis" by improving infrastructure and providing recreational tools that foster the mental and physical growth of children.

It is a comprehensive welfare scheme launched by the Central Government in 1975. The primary objective of the scheme is to ensure the health, nutrition, and holistic development of children aged 0–6 years, pregnant women, lactating mothers, and adolescent girls. In Kerala, this scheme is implemented through Anganwadis under the Department of Women and Child Development.
